Model-Based Tecnologies for Embedded Systems Development

TaskScript is an advanced Model-Based Technology aimed at the rapid and effective development of a wide range of products built as Embedded Systems, such as Automation Controllers, Smart Sensors/Actuators, Machine to Machine Interfaces, Internet of Things devices, and more.

 The key advantage of TaskScript over traditional development techniques is that no programming is required: the development of applications is carried out working at graphical level only, through a powerful IDE (Integrated Development Environment) TaskScript Studio.

  TaskScript Studio

Presently, TaskScript is successfully used in two main product kinds, jointly developed with our business partners.

1. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

These products are jointly developed with vendors of Automation and Control Devices, who typically produce the hardware: the TaskScript tun-time is integrated into their products and the TaskScript Studio IDE is provided to the final users for the programming of their PLC device (either in white label or branded version).

The advantage provided by TaskScript is the easiness and power of programming and the native availability of high level communication primitives, that simplify the interaction with other devices.

2. Internet of Things and Machine2Machine devices

These products are jointly developed with vendors of Smart Sensors and Actuators or Gatweays, who typically produce the hardware: the TaskScript tun-time is integrated into the final device and the TaskScript Studio IDE is used internally by the joint team to develop the device business logic. The advantage provided by TaskScript is the easiness and speed in the development of new products and variants.

We are open to partner and cooperate with industrial players who want to create new products integrating our Technology.

TaskScript Sample and Buy

This section allows prospects and interested people to request one of the two Evaluation versions of the TaskScript Technology.

Prospects interested in buying commercial versions of TaskScript, both off the shelf and custom, are kindly asked to ask a quotation via e-mail to sales<AT>taskscript<DOT>com (this e-mail address is protected from spambots: just substitute <AT> with @ and <DOT> with .); click here to quickly to send a request.Evaluation of the TaskScript technology

Instructions for the Download of the TaskScript Studio Student Edition. Download is allowed free of charge to registered users ony; registration to the site is free of charge. In order to Register, please go to the "Member Login" area, in the left area of this page and follow the "create an account" link (an e-mail is sent immediately to the address that you indicate; you have answer to this mail in order to complete the procedure). After your account is created you will be able to login as a Member. Only when logged the menu named "Member Menu" will be available; clicking the item "Download" on that menu will open the download page.

The first evaluation option is to request a free of charge sample of the TaskScript technology, that is the TaskScript Studio Student Edition; such an edition has built-in all the features of the commercial editions; its only limitation lays in the number of model elements that can be used within a design, that is 32 (please refer to the Product Section for a better explanation of the various releases of TaskScript Studio).

Of Course, being free of charge, this edition is software only and can be downloaded from this site. Since no physical board comes with it, it does not include the generation of any machine code for a physical board; however, simulation is fully working.

The size limit of the Student Edition allows to build and simulate fairly simple models; however it is enough to demonstrate the high potential of the technology in the hope that, after such a try, customers will go to the next step, that is to buy a low cost evaluation kit and experiment the whole design process, from the system model all the way down to a physical system performing as specified in the model.

The Evaluation Kit is a bundle of the TaskScript Evaluation Edition with a physical board containing a PIC16F877A running the P16_18_7_3_2 edition of the TaskScript Kernel. The physical evaluation board contains:

  1. the microcontroller, running with a crystal controlled clock at 20 MHz;
  2. power stabilizator; the board can be powered with a 9 to 12 V DC power @ 100 mA.
  3. one optoisolated RS-232 interface for the support of the Development protocol (e.g. connection with the PC hosting the TaskScript Studio IDE);
  4. 18 Digital Inputs (some with with internal pullups, some floating) and 7 digital outputs, with TTL levels (0 = false, +5V = true).
  5. 3 Analog Input with load resistance = ~10 kΩ and 2 Analog Outputs with series resistance = 470 Ω; for both cases the dynamic range is 0 to 5V.

Notice: the TaskScript Evaluation Edition is similar to the Home Edition as far as the limits of the design are concernced (see the Products section), but can work only for the evaluation board; in order to use the standard TaskScript boards, the regular editions must be bought. This choice has been made in order to distribute at a low cost for evaluation purposes only a product of significantly higher value.

The Evaluation Kit is sold for the symbolic price of 99 € (+ handling/shipping cost of 15 €); payments will be accepted via Pay Pal only; payment instructions and sales conditions will be sent back in the request anwser message.

Instructions for the Request of the TaskScript Evaluation Kit. Requests can be issued by registered users only; registration to the site is free of charge. In order to Register, please go to the "Member Login" area, in the left area of this page and follow the "create an account" link (an e-mail is sent immediately to the address that you indicate; you have answer to this mail in order to complete the procedure). After your account is created you will be able to login as a Member. Only when logged the menu named "Member Menu" will be available; clicking the item "Evaluation Kit" on that menu will open the request page.

TheTaskScript Studio IDE supports the whole Embedded Systems lifecycle, that is:

  1. Design, Model based,
  2. Debugging, through simulation,
  3. Machine Code Generation,
  4. Deployment,
  5. Physical level Testing,
  6. Diagnostic and Maintenance.

Unlike many other model based techniques, no refinement at code level is needed throughout the whole product lifecycle.
